3:08am
He wakes
holding hostage yesterday’s dream, still alive
fade to cigarette
fire and smoke
the spit and sputter of today’s reality
3:47am
He reads
digesting tomorrow’s inspiration, not yet imagined
stage left to coffee
cream and sugar
the speed and spice of loneliness
4:15am
He writes
suggesting he plods not alone
aside to empty cups and ashes
the sprout and spew of grey matter
5:34
He yawns
wishing to spoil the grim reaper’s plan
exit to dawn
He sleeps
to dream again

A night owl!
I have a tendency to burn the midnight oil too, with cigarettes and lemonade. I can surely identify!
Great write!

You are also a night writer!
The silence of the night is for me the best moment to be with myself, writing or not, I enjoy the confusion of my thoughts.
I like this, how you let us see your night.
well done Leo

Leo, this is EXCELLENT!!! I love the form and voice with which you speak in. There is an edgy matter of factness with a dash of cynicism that I find intriquing. So you've been up late again eh? LOL. You keep this up and you'll have the grim reaper with dark circles and bags under his eyes, too tired to even swing his scythe. But then knowing you, that just might be your master plan. If you can't beat him, wear him down! LOL

Ah ... but this day has not yet begun ...

Cheater!
Ain't the dreamer his or her best conversationalist when alone?
