Three Princesses

We stood in front of the mirror
three princesses
all with different fairy tales
the opposite of our reflections

Princess number one;
her eyes had dark circles
her lips bitten and scarred
all revealing her struggles
with her family at home
the bruises, are inside and out
from her brothers fury.
But she’s a princess in a tower.

Princess number two;
the scratches on her arms
bags under her eyes
the redness of her
nose, sniffling, rubbing.
Her unkempt hair, wrinkled clothing
that she probably passed out in
last night
But she’s a princess, in an epic battle with the monster.

Princess number three;
her boyfriend
misled her into the woods
pushed her down
she yelled and screamed
No!
He called her names
ahe gave in, weak and exhausted
But she’s a princess, and has her prince.

Now those are our Fairy Tales
We three princesses
we broke from the mirror,
and broke from those pages.

Author notes

This was a poem I had to write for my language arts class, and I really like it. It's called a first lines/last lines poem.
I no requirements other than picking a first line from a group of lines and picking a last line from a group of lines. I just had to fill in the rest.

First line: We stood in front of the mirror
Last line: And broke from those pages

What do you think the symbolism was for each princess?
