The World As It Was Once Known

Come and peer through a special mirror
Gaze upon this old world a little bit clearer
Glancing into a mysterious past to see this place
A very long time before the human’s won the race

A time when battles were won by bold men and magic
When stories of our lost brothers were always so tragic
Monstrous winged beasts breathe fire and take flight
Burning into the heart of all man a furious fright

Someone will always come to rescue you from fate
Teaching you to hold on just a second longer and wait
Through that final hour which is always so dark and grim
Just around the corner is a prince to give in to your every whim

Though we have not spoken of hobbits and elves in this story
Trust me they exist and deserve equal amounts of the glory
Worshiping the mother earth and tending to her every need
They also overlook the lust and lures of man’s unholy greed

What could have possibly changed such a place as it was back then
Well don’t you remember, it’s the most simple issue, the original sin
To lust after something that is not truly yours and take it by any means
This darkness in the heart of men has etched in history terrible scenes

So I ask, no I implore you, to please listen to me
This is not how we are supposed to let this place be
Though my simple words may glaze your wandering eyes
Please remember that uncontrolled lust is not very wise

Before you allow our precious world to be torn a sunder
And leave no stone for the magic to take shelter under
Remembering the place that we used to have all around
Just wait and listen for the cavalry’s trumpets to sound

Thinking back and grasping for just that one second longer
Learning now that holding on is what makes you stronger
We must teach again of the magic in the world we have here
While listening to that small voice pushing you past the fear

What did you think
