Gray Suspenders

Mr. Sun's magnolia light
blinked between the clouds till night
Promised to be back at dawn
With his gray suspenders on.

Up in China, there was rain
All his smiles were smiled in vain
Never could come out to sing
Till Africa, chorusing.

Russia took its toll with snow
But that’s all the high plains know
For Sun still peaked on mountain’s crest
Bearded white and fully dressed.

Turkey slid him Palestine
With an Eastern bell to ring
Spain and France, a favorite trip
Blessing grapes for luscious sip.

Back to states, the Sun will shine
Drinking in the summer wine
Dancing till he falls to west
Gray suspenders drop - at last!
