Life's slow aging

I know how life, it shines with sorrow!
It loves to sit, like autumn’s leaves,
Alive, aghast, dreaming of morrow.

But dare it not to peek the heavens!
That it might find, along the sky,
A promise of safe haven.

Oh life, my friend, with sorrow weak,
How sad your smile, how dark and bleak!
How pale your face, once fair and light,
Once soft and true, with beauty bright.

And how your smiles, left to hide,
Have curled down, masks of sighs.
But do not cry now, I have tried,
It seems your passions have just died!

But see, how grand, the starry sky,
Shines and sparkles, lives and glides!
How your dreams, once soaring high,
Could fall, like rain, from such tall strides,
And die like sighs, without a sound,
It was no wonder, when they fell,
They plundered through the ground!

I’m sorry life, for now I see,
That though I pray, and though I weep,
No part of you will yet be free,
No part of you will grant me sleep.

So take my hand, immortal bride,
And bring me to an endless night!
No need to cry, for I have tried,
No sorrow heals our weary plight!

I enjoyed how you chose to personify Life.... like you were talking directly to the being. Interesting how you personify it as once happy but now sad... I guess it describes youth's happiness and adulthood's more complicated strifes well.

Good Job- thanks for entering the contest that I have not forgotten
