Die Herrschaft des auslüften
Wer ritt die gehoben Strömungen
Ohnegleichen oder auch Besorgung
In unserer Schiffe gehoben und mächtig
Wir Rose mit die Sterne
Zu sein Machthaber über dieser gehoben Örter
Wir waren großartiger denn Zaren
Unserer Namen liest gefällt ein Litanei
Über königlich Blut ab woher wir kam
Einteilend die lang bewölkt Berge
Füllte mit solch donnern und regnen
Unserer Geschichte war schriftlich
Dwars gebirgig läuft Ski
In unserer Schiffe gesegnet beim Himmel
[TRANSLATION]
We were one of a kind
The lords of the air
Who rode the high currents
Without equal or care
In our ships high and mighty
We rose with the stars
To be rulers of these high places
We were greater than czars
Our names read like a litany
Of royal blood from whence we came
Scaling the tall cloudy mountains
Filled with such thunder and rain
Our history was written
Across mountainous skies
In our ships blessed by heaven
We ruled with angels eyes
Our proud heritage was ordained
Like true Teutonic knights
We were born of Freidrichshafen
To rule these lofty heights
From the scaly horned capes of Carthag
To the blue depthless gulfs of Erebos
We were mighty pharaohs of the air kingdom
In our zeppelin ships of the uppermost
Our great palaces were anchored
To the thunderheads in the sky
We were gods to you mere mortals
We believed we could never die
But it's always been man's folly
To put himself above any deity
And thus began our own downfall
Like the Caesars of old, we ceased to be...
Author notes
username: myriad-dark This is a germ of an idea for a novella/ short story about an oligarchy of air pharoahs (zepplin kings) led by one character called Captain Mendoza Hengest-Gjuke who rule the upper layers of a fictional world... it was inspired in part by the airships in the movies stardust & the golden compass & sci-fi master Michael Moorcock

Thank you for this very interesting entry in our contest. Thanks also for the English translation. It is an enjoyable read, but we feel that the flow could be tightened up, which would make it an easier read.
Please join us in future contests...Sue and Jeff
