Fight

I carelessly left my emotions
Out for the whole world to see

Attacked at everyday
Devoured by the devil himself
Answers playing hide-&-seek
Fatigue overcomes my consciousness

Fighting through with

Everything I have left

Never waving a white flag

I can't lose myself again

The violent waves crash into me

Over & over again

Forcing me to think of defeat

But there's no such thing

In this world we live in

It's either protect yourself

Or die trying

& I'd rather fight for

Another chance to move on

tides that i tried to swim against

I feel like you put a lot of emotion into this, but maybe it just didn't come through in the poem like you intended. Sometimes that can be a real struggle in poetry, to get the reader to feel how you feel about something. Thanks for entering.

This is a well-wrought poem. But I don't agree that there's no such thing as defeat. "It's either protect yourself/ Or die trying", but some people have given up and no longer try, and those are the ones who know defeat. A thought-provoking poem. Good job.
