I.
small eyes peering over jostle
of a mother’s shoulder
and we speak silent language
of new soul to old soul
baby being the old
that kind of Hello
II.
a crow, rustling in cattail canes
stopping long enough to flick yellow eye
a stunning swift stop
to any further encounter
that kind of Hello
III.
a voice no one but you hears
as it ravels you back up
its umbilical cord
not even in deep night
but in the middle of the day
in the lunchroom
at work
that kind of Hello
IV.
when she met him
she knew Goodbye was stronger
than the greeting
she drew it out
with great regard
that kind of Hello
