Lessons Learned From Being Bullied

I, the victim, you the bully -
you don't remember me, do you?
But I remember you.
Oh, yes...I remember you.

All the slander, your empty
but terrifying threats,
backed by the majority of the
population of a small town school.

You saw to it in all your mockery
and disparaging remarks that you
drove me to the point of desperation, to
contemplating suicide because I had no support.

I was young and naive, but widely traveled.
You were settled in, a home-town queen
who mastered the art of manipulation at 12,
skillfully unraveling my psyche, my emotional stability.

All of it was for your entertainment,
but the names of your victims you soon forgot.
I, however, never, ever forgot.
How could I forget all the pain you put me through?

In the space of four years, you turned my life
upside down, into a living hell.
And for you, I have only two words: bless you.
It was because of your example that I chose not to be like you.

My motto is intergrity, loyalty, and truth;
my life one of caring and fairness -
sensitivity to others is my main concern.
You taught me much; mostly what not to do.

Contest Option 2
---------------------
Youth and puberty are difficult enough in their own ways; but the sexual harrassment I endured in my pre-teen and early teen days changed my views on society and sexuality. As for the other preview reference, let's just say it's a miracle I'm still a Catholic, from the abuse I endured.

Sorry this happened to you, but look at who you are now. A woman who is a survivor of being put through bullying! The bullys made you strong!!! Without killing or harming anyone.

    Great message in this:

    Goodluck in all you do,

Well, this is more about non-kindness until the final stanza. But it's lovely that you took the negativity and made a huge positive out of it by refusing to be another such as the bully. Nicely done.

I think it's wonderful how you chose to make such a terrible experience be an opportunity to rise above it and become a better person as a result! My own son has endured quite a bit of bullying, though not harassment, but it's been tough. It's not easy to not be bitter sometimes, although I've learned my own lessons can teach me if I choose to let my Lord move me in the right direction. I'm still learning this though! Keep up the good work!!!

Wow! I have to say it's a subject close to own my heart. Though in the end they usually get their own; karma's a bitch - excuse the language. This piece was terrific, I loved every word. Great write!

YOUR WRITE REMINDS ME OF FORGIVENESS.

IT GIVES US PEACE OF MIND,

IT IS A HEAVY LOAD TO CARRY WHEN WE DON'T FORGIVE.

THE PERSON THAT WE NEED TO FORGIVE IS NOT EVEN THINKING OR PROBABLY DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER. BUT WHEN WE FORGIVE OUR LOAD IS SO MUCH LIGHTER.

    IT CREATES PEACE OF MIND.

I KNOW IT IS HARD TO DO BUT WE DO IT FOR OURSELVES.

IT MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

    SAD MEMORY MY FRIEND

    WRITTEN VERY WELL.

    GOD BLESS...
