Its time for me to tell you what I’ve been holding back all along
Sometimes I sit in the dark
and just listen to the rain
My dreams create a spark
that shut out all of the pain
I try to say goodbye
and walk away from him
but it would be a lie
for he is my best friend
When I look into your eyes
see your smiling face
Its like I become untied
and fly into outer space
Now I long for your kiss
that will never be
because it would be amiss
don’t you see?
I have waited so long
but now its too late
Soon I will be gone
in a restful state

Ahh young love...
I miss my teenage years. I remember a few best friends that I yearned to be so much more. It has a few little rhythm issues. Try to count your line beats and keep them close and it will help it flow better. I'm curious why you didn't split that first line into a couple of lines. I still like it. It's endearing.

This was a great piece of work, and it would have been a welcome addition. I'm sorry you weren't able to share it in the contest. it is sweet, and honest, and a little heart-breaking. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the interest. I look forward to stopping back and reading more of your work. For now, I'm grabbing a tylenol and getting away from the computer! ... lol. I spent so long trying to judge the poems, I got a headache! ... lol
