It's been a long time
Since I've looked in the mirror
And been content with
What I saw

The person I once knew
Had no regrets
Lived her life
And believed in herself

She had hopes
And dreams for
The future ahead
She never gave up

Without a fight

She tried to change
But the past was too quick
It led her back
To a place she did not want to be

She needed help...
She missed the people
Who once loved her and
Cared about her

Despite all her flaws

But they know that
She can't turn back now
She started down the road
And there's no escape route

Then one day
She decided to believe

She left the memories
The bad times
And everything that once
Caused her pain

She relied on her faith
On her instinct
And on love
To make it through

And now
As I stare back at
Myself

I realize that
Without the bad
I wouldn't be who I am

I've grown, both good and bad
And now I understand
That sometimes life
Is tough

So we can truly discover who
We're meant to be
