Checkmate!

Sorcerers of perverted
inventions mock my birth

The weeds of justice
thwart their calamitous
schemes

as I infiltrate spheres
of illogical cohabitation

suspended in realms of
my cerebal cortex

Mind beams of epiphanies
scan time to infinity

rounding out the past
participles of dehydration

flood gates burst with
imaginative influx

creating a vortex
of disengaged dreams

forward motion perpetuates
successful conclusion

reinventing the wheels
of lasting change

Nice job. I like way you approached the contest. Best of luck.

This poem is curious, especially with your chosen title. The title suggests conflict, but it also suggests a "devil-may-care" attitude towards that conflict. Sort of a grinning cartoon character just fighting to get the girl, if you will. Together, the poem forms an undercurrent of sorts that doesn't make much of an impact on the mind at first thought but, like technology, once dismantled and separated things really kick in.

I could see some distant images in my mind as I read this, particularly "spheres of illogical cohabitation"- a sea of floating lantern lights. As stated before, separating the lines into twos was a great idea, as it allows each part to be analyzed by itself. That one line alone suggests ecological instability, and also all that is spherical- planets, the Sun, even disco balls- that could be helping or hindering humanity.

When such an approach is taken, the final lines are as clear as a crystal bell. Through the poem, one gains a deeper understanding of the multiple parts that make up anything, and how humanity must acknowledge those parts in order to continue living. An excellent and thought-provoking work.
