Do you know that I can sense you
searching my subconscious?
Fumbling in darkness
for the switch to my sorrow?
I am here...
parched and praying
seeking solace
in this desert you once disdained.
I should be overjoyed
that your spirit lingers
but I cannot bear
your physical absence.
Won’t you will the winds
to wrap around my reverie
bringing familiar fingers
upon ghostly gale?
I will inhale your essence
and set my kiss
upon your phantom lips.
But if your final destination
should set to pull you away
favor me with your eternal sunshine...
to sear my mind spotless.

I just noticed I never left a proper comment on this one... The depth woven here is remarkable - and utterly poignant. You relate well to the inspiration, but give depth far beyond what could even be found there. Excellent imagery and detail coursing within. Beautiful write!!!

This is so wrenching, ghostly cold - feel the phantom wind - yet parched with the heat of passion that still lingers on desert sands.

Ohhhh this is just amazing!!! That opening stanza just captivated me... and from there you delved into the feeling of being apart from a loved one.. longing for them...
I adore this!
