A Working Man

In better times I paid my way
no charity for me
A working man is all I am
until just recently

I’m out of work and almost hope
soon things will turn around
But every time I spread my wings
I can’t get off the ground

I wonder now what some would think
if fortune came my way
Would they be my friends in deed
or skip on loans I’ve made

But such is life for a poor man
who would be so inclined
To repay his debts of gratitude
but his debit was declined

    Oh how I relate!

Times are tough indeed for so many of us.But keep your head up and keep on writing, it'll get better, it already has, hasn't it?
    Regards,
    Jennifer

Leo, what I just read made me feel so sad. We all go through trying times and even friends can't bail us out. But they can be there, to hold your hand as you strive to reach the surface. Aging is almost like dying. The young take us out, way before our time. Six months ago, I had nothing and I decided to follow my dream. HAve enough now to pay bills. Need nothing else. Have missed talking to you. I just know that a new door will open for you.

I do like that you said "almost hope" for it means you still have it or at least feel you do. It is times like this that we need to make a list of all of our blessings large and small. Count them like you would count sheep at night and give your thanks when you rise. For that is the biggest blessing of all, that you rose the next morning to be able to give those thanks. You are a gifted writer and a wonderful friend. Good things are right around the corner.

This sounds very sad Leo, yet knowing you, I'm sure that wings will take flight and will make you fly high. Sometimes we just need to practice patience, even through hard days.
Smile, for you have friends who send positive thoughts to you

    I am in awe ...

for notwithstanding hardship, you keep going. I know that you find your strength in the Lord. Please know that my prayers are with you, constantly.

Let we trust God for He is in control.

Write about the small mercies and you will see He is omnipresent, even in our hardships. Never give up hope, Leo.

    Love
    Myra

    A sincere poem ...

    that seeks answers to questions that are left up to the silent administrator who surely has the grand plan in mind. ... (if only he would share it!) joy;
