Don't you hear me anymore?

My lower lip folds down into a pout
And with no one around to see
A tear wedges down escaping the fear-
He's never here, the distance widens
And the phone lays rest to my mouth
As his ears hear nothing in my voice
With all its burning uncertainties told,
Engagement withering beneath the ghost
Of lost art shared and redefined substance
That only myself sees and describes
To none but mind as it stretches matter,
Making no difference in the sound,
At least none that he can tell,
Sinks me into a life unfit for toasts
Boiling my every nerve in touch
Where only the deaf hear my cries
As I fall away by the bedside, alone,
Broken enough for two, alone.

I really like the take on the prompt and the last line (of the first poem) is wonderfully crafted (imagery throughout is very well done)... I liked the short poem - but thought that it seemed missing something... lo and behold - you must have too the finished product is brilliant and I really enjoyed the read... the one thing that I noticed is the non-capitalisation of the word 'i' in the second half?.. it doesn't seems to fit (as you have the beginning words capitalised)... Thank you for entering this contest!

    Keep writing
