she said i was a winner,
but what did she know?
the air hung heavy across the lake;
high upon the bridge there was an angel,
floating, hovering in the sky --
suddenly crashing downwards
through the fog
and there was a splash,
a gurgle,
and nothing more.
and for a moment i wondered
if what i saw was real;
i stared at the water
but there were no tell-tale signs,
so i turned and walked inside.
she said i was a winner,
but who won that night?
was it me,
warm and dry
with a plate of uneaten cookies by my side,
or was it that unknown swimmer
who took her final dive?

If you're wondering what on earth this is, I am not the right person to ask.
Whatever you want to say. Critiques, anything. :)
