It is possible to row a boat
almost all the way to my home
by the canal, as time allows
To where the old cabins stand
with the cabbage palms near
the vast, shallow wetlands
Where white ibis scavenge and play,
saw palmettos bloom and propagate;
the modern world begins to evaporate.
Cloud songs congregate to daydream;
cypress trees sway as
the hopeful breeze prays
With Mother Earth for green
and blue prosperity to reign.
Then, you could return to 'civilization'
if you chose to but
Perhaps it wouldn't seem the same as
before you tasted the pond apple and
witnessed the healing spirit of the great egret.

Every word talks to the reader, every verse flows, and the poem is filled with shining imagery... a finalist, definitely. I like the last two stanzas especially. It really portrays the beauty of nature in contrast to our civilization. Thank you for entering.

Possibly these wonders have clustered around the one person able to tell their story to the world. You certainly do a beautiful job --- I'm searching for my rowboat

The Dream Keeper
Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamer,
Bring me all your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.
