Daisy chains and grass-stained shoes.

Shamrocks strut
across his face,
as breath takes blame away
and sun lets land
into his eyes
shutting shame
beneath shadowed hues.

Orange motes flash
inside assiduous peal,
stealing sobriety
from feet and fright

and her honey-coloured hairpins
dig dangerously deep,
seeping skin
in knowing's needs.

He lies lackadaisical
as she rolls her head
to kiss sky's sleeping scents;
grass grazing
neck and open palms

and heat collects day
in a heartbeat's hush
as she senses words
in the soil.

She arrives in his body
amid bluebottle buzz,
as time ticks
in tinctures of turquiose;
her sighs bending
with water's wrists,
shaking fragility
from summer's sanguine smiles

and he lifts joy's hopes
to meet tender trace
as proposals play
amidst warming gusts.

He holds her response
in silent sensations
as lapidary lips remain motionless

and river resonates,
feeling future's "forever-yours"

in welcome wish
and corposant clutch.

As beautiful and amazingly wonderful as the first time I read and loved this piece. "lapidary lips" I like that, that's fairly unique imagery you encapsulate. Thank you for gracing my contest with this

    You did it again!

You've wowed me again with your soft expressions and creative imagery... from that first line, I knew this was going to be a great poem. Really, I must read your other poems sometimes. You are a master of imagery... I wish I could write with such images as you do.

This is beautiful and profound and breathtaking in its' imagery. I can't help feel, that the characters you present in this piece though are holding something back from one another though. There's much love, but something unexpressed verbally, that they would rather express through their feelings and actions. It makes one wonder Truly this is exceptional.

This is truly amazing! It's passion hidden under elegance. I love this. Even the title is breathe taking!
