Presdient Bush...

If I were President Bush I would have followed through much more closely with Katrina, and demanded accountability to see the job finished.
I would also Like to see accountability from the American people that they demand from elected officials. America is foundering from our inability to monitor our own behavior and deny ourselves anything. Wake up people it first starts with you and me. No one respects any one or anything any more.

I got a laugh from your author note. Don't be so hard on yourself. There were much worse entries than this one. I agree with the idea that the same accountability the citizenry expects from its leaders should be expected from them. In a Katrina-like catastrophe, the first responsibility is with the people themselves to band together and help each other, not start raping, looting, and generally creating instability, which hampers the work of and threatens the safety of those who might come to help. There is massive flooding in Iowa right now and people are working together beautifully. The order of responsibility is local, then state, then government. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who wait around for a handout, but then they probably spent their entire lives doing that. Patterns are hard to break.

    Thanks again for your entry.

Thankyou for taking the time to enter the contest. NB Did you mean foundering or floundering? I am glad that you chose to express that you would have overseen Katrina to the point of accountability.

Very nice, but I felt a bit dissapointed when you never mentioned the war in Iraq. I also think that Presidents should be more aware that their desicions affect Puerto Rico as well, therefore I felt honored and flabbergasted when I found out my native land was allowed to choose whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama would be the representative for the democartic party. Believe it or not America, Puerto Rico does think, and Puerto Rico thiks that if you don't help, no one does (seeing as our governors have even been charged of stealing). >.>
Good write, although not quite the greatest one to put in AP.

Well why not write instead of complain? you have so many complaints of how your people are treated so how would you have Bush change how it is done? This is the place to be heard.
