The Solitary Swan

I have seen something beautiful.
I have witnessed Majesty through Creation.
I have heard the Music of True Love
In the sound of a Swan's call.

To see this bird spread its wings,
is to see the birth of Love in front of your eyes.
To watch it fly along side another,
is simply Divine.

But I have also seen tragedy...
I have seen this bird caged,
To look in it's eyes was to see pain,
Beyond tears, thicker than blood.

The Swan I have witnessed,
being kept in such confinement.
Was not in a cage of metal and locks.
Not of wood and straw.

It was a cage of the mind.
Martyred for the very love
this bird wishes to spread its wings for.
Yet it cannot, for the Greater Sacrifice.

This Solitary Swan longs for One
that can set him free of this cage of thought.
One that allows him to spread his wings,
Allows him to Fly with Divinity.

I pray you feel as I do,
for this deserted King.
I pray you wish to see him fly,
Soaring with love in his wings.

Author notes

I know I haven't written in a LONG time... It's been awhile since I've been able to. This one came out one melancholy evening. Enjoy
