Just Imagine

I lie awake and ponder,
with the setting of the sun.
The creatures of the wild,
no longer will they be able to run.

Just the thought of it,
brings so much anger to me.
How would it be different,
I imagine if it could be.

Just imagine if they were in control.
Animals versus humans,
revenge will be taken its toll.

Now we're the hunted prey,
as they shoot to kill.
We run trying to stay alive,
in their merciless will.

If we were to switch places,
we would be begging for our lives.
The meat upon the table,
our heads for the prize.

They let us run about,
as they set the traps.
To hunt us just for
the skin off of our back.

Just imagine if we were to trade places.
Animals versus humans,
the look upon our faces.

Doing their twisted experiments,
the lab rats trapped inside the cage.
Seeing what ticks us off,
in their last stage,
in our final age.

The suffering so immense,
it's driving us insane.
If we were on the other side of the gun,
would we know their pain?

I, too, am an animal lover and I get so upset when I hear of animal cruelty. If only people would stop nd "just imagine" the horror, perhaps there would be less abuse. This is a well crafted poem Kriss!!!

I like the idea and what you're writing about, but I think some lines had one or two too many syllables, and that made it a little difficult to read, but other than that, this was a good read!
