How Do I Explain

Without you I can barely breathe
I am empty from your touch,
the words are like a whisper
and I'm stilled without their echo.

Everything around me
fades into insignificance,
I feel when you have pulled away
and my heart it turns to mute.

You are to me the spectrum
of every colour of my rainbow,
you mesmerise me to your side
and there I'm bound forever.

I seem unable to tell you
that I feel so many emotions,
the flames they roar when you are near
when you're gone I'm but a shrivelled leaf.

I'm feeling very weary
but I dare not go to sleep,
for when I wake you may be gone
and my earth would cease revolving.

You are the axis of my world
what else is there to say?
don't let the fire die away
for I don't want to freeze to death.
