never flows freely.
It starts, then sputters,
And stops.
I tap the faucet of thought,
thinking the flow is blocked.
But no, it comes and runs
when it will.
And so I stop and take a break,
knowing eventually
it will flow again.
But until then, I must wait.

I like this, only I'm not sure if the metaphor works for me because running water never stops flowing unless you yourself turn it off ... writers block usually comes of its own accord. Maybe a breeze, stopping and starting. But to each his own I guess. Thank you for your entry it was an enjoyable read and I like the border.

Too cute! Thank you for submitting this in my contest!

Great imagery and metaphor here! I can relate to this very well - I'm sure we all can!

"I tap the faucet of thought" excellent line, I really like that instead of describing the element itself, you translated its properties to that of inspiration.
great write
-Thank you for your entry, Angi Terese -
a very creative verse using wonderful imagery and metaphor ... and a good lesson for all of us suggesting to "let inspiration flow" instead of trying to "make it flow" ...
thank you for sharing your flowing muse,

Yes, I dig.
lol.
I'm having trouble writing as well... so I don't believe your having trouble with writing. This does not look like you have truoble...
Now, I'm just kidding. Ok, serious now...
I liked your second stanza or the line rather "it comes and runs when it will"--- does this mean I shouldn't force myself to write?
It's been a while since inspiration last strucked.
I loved your poem overall, I hope it will now inspire me to wirte again...
Excellent job! (forgive my sillyness earlier)

very true,
It starts, then sputters,
and stops.
and when it rains it pours,
very creative
good luck in the contest.
God bless...

I like your 'faucet of thought' for this. It does seem at times to be like that for many - a slow drip that sometimes stops. Then again, it can be like a full blast once the faucet starts running properly..lol..
anyways, for sporadic writing this is very nice. Very simply said, but creating powerful images.
best wishes in your contests.

A lovely piece this
How inspiration can take many forms is quite whimsical so the way you wrote about it as a running water was wonderfully written ^^
Well, best of luck to you in the contest
