We'll Never Say Goodbye

I'll never forget the cold January day,
When a man decided to play God
And take your life away.
I got the call telling me you were gone.
I didn't know what to say.
All I knew was the man must pay.
Then all I could do was cry and pray.

Did he know how much you where loved
And how many friends you had?
Did he ever stop to think
You were someone's son,grandson,big brother,nephew,cousin
And some one who was loved beyond measure?
Did he care you where only sixteen?
I guess not
Or you would still be with us to love today.

What he didn't take away
Was the shining star you'll always be
If only only he saw what we see.
I'll never forget the times we shared.
Always loved it
when you called me "Auntie",
Though I really wasn't.
You would say,
"We don't have to be blood to be family".

Those cute chubby cheeks you had as a little boy
Always melted my heart.
From the very first time I saw you,
I was in love with my nephew.
The last time we saw each other,
You were becoming a little man.
In my heart is where you'll always stay
And that's something no one,
Not even God,
Can take away.

Yes, my dear sweet nephew,
Your memory will always live in my heart.
I just wanted you to know
what you mean to me.
As long as I am upon this earth
I won't let anyone forget
God has another angel in our midst.
