Bud was his name
with eyes of fire
I would follow him
anywhere.
In the mountain villages
he beat his drums
in circles of friends
late into the evenings.
Alone we would
walk paths
silently, yet sharing volumes
hands held tightly.
Our future seemed far away
we had forever together.
But paths don't always lead
in planned directions.
I visit Bud often
and plant more
red wildflowers
on his grave.
