Caged Bird's Cry...

I know why
the caged bird sings.
and all day long
each note rings...

It sees the Eagle
soar above
and it thinks to itself
what must be love.

And so...

Out of desire,
to understand more,
it rings out notes
that it's heart pours forth.

And caged bird sings of joy
and sings of pain
and sings of sunlight
and sings of rain.

And of the sacred stillness
of the pale moonlight
caged bird can not see clearly
for something always blocks the light.

Yet...
it feels the swoon
of emotions for life
that a caged bird can only
dream about...

If only it could get out.

Where would caged bird go
and what would it do
and what could it know
of real excitement
danger and gloom.

Oh,
if only it knew
caged bird was meant to fly.

Please tell me what you think

you seem to have a flavor for this type of writhing. i don't usually read pieces like this besides my own and its nice to finally find someone who can look at it and reconize it as poetry:-) lol(laugh out loud) you did a good job. the caged bird part really stands out when you mention how ferr the Eagle is. nice analogy
