So This Is Romance?

You say it’s romantic
To be taken to Paris;
That city of “love”
And propose
[down on one knee,
Like in the movies]

You don’t realise
How
Impersonal
That could be.

Have you ever thought
That love might need
Something more?
[than your clichés
Of flowers, chocolates and a golden ring]

Some lovers dream
[as some dreamers love]
Of picnics beneath
Trees of pink confetti
And
Cherry-blossom kisses
Under starlit skies.
Trickling brooks
And poetic inspirations.

You said you were romantic,
But you forgot to realise

~ true love
can be made
through a single
chain of daisies.~

Written 1st June 2008.

Author notes

~Inspired by summer last year. My partner and I sat making daisy chains in the grass. And to me, that was a deep connection of love. To just sit and do something young and yet creative with someone I love. Written 1st June 2008.

Personal, but I want to improve it; so be honest.

    Wow

BRILLIANT! i absolutely love this... it's so sweet and innocent. and i wholly agree. love isn't just expensive, romantic cities and engagement rings. it's spending time with each other, smiling, doing something that may seem utterly stupid to everyone else, but is completely perfect for you and your significant other. beautiful piece sweetheart. :]
