Bombs and blasts, Boy, keep your head to the ground.
This jungle isn't what you'd call safe and sound.
You better keep running before you're found,
You don't want to look back to see.
Fire and flesh, its smell permeates around.
This is a hell that keeps you bound.
A war in which the only outcome is to drown,
fear isn't the only thing that bleeds.
They give you lies just like water,
and take the lives of your sons and daughters,
sending them away like pigs to the slaughter.
Can't they understand there isn't a price tag to being free?
They pretend that they can make peace from violence,
yet all I can hear is this death ridden silence,
consuming everything like a virus,
this will never be peace to me.

I think that choosing a war senario was a good idea as war is intense and harsh and drains you of everything. This is a good poem and I can see that you are a good writer. I especially liked the layout of the poem as it was different from all the others I have read in the contest. Well Done and Good luck XxX
