This bird doesn't look like a Scot,
He'd be happier where it is hot
On a beach, or a boat
In his colourful coat
But in Glesca? Perhaps better not!
For a wee sparra might say tae him:
"Are ye here oan yer holidays, Jim?"
Or: "Whit tartan is that?
That's a bonny blue hat!"
Or: "Are ye a Billy, or Tim?"
Author notes
The final line can only really be understood if you know about Celtic and Rangers football clubs. Further research may be necesssary.

He does look like a tropical bird, with all those colours! A Scot he is not, I like your wee sparra's questions. We took a turn for whimsy in this contest - congratulations for gold!

I liked your limericks with this bird...well done.
Cheryl
As the bunting would reply:
Parden me Laddie for starin'
That's a mighty bland tartan your wearin.
I ain't Billy or Tim
Yall can call me slim
I'm from Texas, if you're really carin.
This is from a friend of mine who read your poem.

Still not sure what this is but your poem is really cute!

even if I don't understand all of the scots (?) words in your verse, your poem made me smile ... great humor dwells in this lighthearted tribute to this rainbow-colored bird ...
all the best,
maa
