Light-sprawl . Ligspartel

Ligspartel
Afrikaans

Mooimaak en optooi is vasbind en losbind.
Uit Oom Samie se Winkel en Ouma se klerekas;
gebonde in sonde!
Seer weet dus nie waar om te begin
-- heuningwas of woestynland --
wagtend op die Geliefde wat ver is.

Ligspartel tussen skaduwees ...
Trane versteen, verstaan; sig bring son:
sterflike skoonheid word binne-gloed.
Word ek water ... só?

Losmaak, laat gaan: voortgaan.
Smart as Tussenganger ...
Lig word hemel -- triomf!

Light-sprawl

Beautify and tittivate become tie and untie.
From Oom Samie se Winkel and Granny's cupboard;
bound in sin!
Thus sorrow does not know where to start
-- honeywax or desertland --
waiting on the Beloved far away.

Light-sprawl within shadows ...
Tears stonified, understand; sight brings sun:
mortal beauty becomes inner glow.
Do I become water ... like this?

Untie, release: carry on.
Sorrow as Mediator ...
Light becomes heaven -- triumph!

.

This poem was written from randomly selected phrases, generated by stimulating senses, and set in punctuated pre-forma ... The title was unknown, but usually with this approach becomes evident soon after selection of the first phrases. This is a very exciting and stimulating approach to writing impromptu poetry in healing, developed and demonstrated by me over the last decade.

WORKSHOP POETRY

Annalie Calitz

Verwikkel
Pearlcon

’n treurwoord
’n valblaar se huil

skoffel die son
aan ’n enkele blom?

en as blare tak word
wie kan keer ...
en wie bespeur die son se kleur?

Kobé Deister

Pearlcons

Water-washed for me

At the river mouth,
I choose them myself,
small pieces of water-washed wood.

How is it that I could see
so clearly which I wanted
and put them in the circle
I drew on the sand?

When they were
there days and nights,
were they meant for me?

Wet soil

The small footprint
of a buck in the wet soil,
my finger tracing it.

Can the warmth I feel
be from the knowing
of the unseen?

For as the prints are there
is the vivid image
of the graceful animal real?

Wou jy lewe?

Op die grysklippiehoop
het ek jou met ’n graaf
bygekom – sorry slang!

Toe jy krul en draai
en ek net harder druk,
wou jy lewe?

Sal die beeld
van jou stukkende lyf
my ooit vergewe word?

Mis

Die mis maak my blind –
dis moeilik om te sien
maar nie te sien nie.

Sou die mis
wat tot in jou longe huiwer
jou kop agteroor knak?

Sal jy dan in jou blindheid
met mis omring
dan eers begin sien?

English Version:

The fog blinds me –
so difficult to see
but not to see.

Would the fog
that hesitates even in my lungs
force my head to bent backwards?

Will you in your blindness
surrounded by fog
start to see?

Paddatjie op my mou

Gister op my mou, swart mou
’n wit paddatjie –
skielike klein geskenkie.

Het Nenna
met die katarakke op haar oë
hom vir my gegee?

Dit oor ’n paar sente
in haar oumenshande,
my mou in haar dankbare hande?

Geraldine Kortje

Desired Memories

As my day turns into night
I wish so much to have you by my side

I know you’re safe and far away
even thou I rather wanted you stay
I know this can't be

For sweet memories
is all that I desire
And this is how I now go on ...

Sonnette le Roux

Good-bye

During the late hours of the winter night
leaning over the fence
trying to catch a breath of life giving air
his body wet with cold sweat.

Oh the struggle, Oh the helplessness
why the suffering?
What to do?

In the bright of morning light
the big bear-hug and smile
the good-bye!

What a wonderful feeling
with a tear and a laugh.
Will we ever understand
God's peace in the heart?

Magdalene Maart

Dis nag

Dis eintlik dag
maar ek wag vir die nag
wanneer geen mens die traan kan sien
wat jou so ongevraagd bedien

Die haan die kraai
– ek voel verraai –
maar kondig aan
die son wat kom verraai 'n nuwe dag

'n Dag vol afwagting
gryp vas die dag
die son sal sekerlik weer skyn
en gras verdor, vermeng met blaar
soos twee wat trou
verklaar 'n nuwe jaar

Een enkel traan

Een enkel traan rol oor jou wang
Ek wil dit met my vinger vang
voordat dit teen jou nek afgly

Een enkel traan rol oor jou wang
Ek wil dit nie meer vang
want ek besef God was altyd
besig met suiwering
verheldering
redding

Ek gaan op knieg en bieg
van hemelblou
tot aardse dou
Is U tog in beheer ...

U ís – dankie my Heer

Trix Nel

Nuwe Hoop

Donker nag met uile wat roep!
Donker my hart en bang.

Ek wil nie hoor,
maar tog luister ek.
Soekend waarna?

Die eerste oggendlig ...
die warmte, gerusstelling.
Die hoop!

Woestyndroom

Woestyn, warmte, water ...
my siel is so dors.

Ek loop, hardloop, val;
staan op en beur –
daar iewers is water.

Bly hoop en wanhoop:
wanneer kom die uitkoms?

Net opkyk ... en vasbyt!

Hartseer en pyn
Pearlcon

Winter kondig die dood aan
van sonneblomme
wat bly dan oor na die somer?

’n Boom wat val,
die brand van die veld en bosse
is swartgebrand, geen voëls wat sing?

Dan die vloed ...
die onkruid woeker, maar nuut groei
Poinsettia, sing rooi in die winter.
Word reënval die rykdom?

Wilma Snetler

Autumn
Pearlcon

Bright, colourful autumn leaves
reflect a cheerful life.

Why does a fatal accident
change that in a split second?

Are you not blessed that within the shadow of death
the Bright Morningstar will at first bring a thought
and then in abundance, colourful memories?

Author notes

This ENDOPATIC poem was written during my KREATIV-WORKSHOP that was held on May 31, 2008, by the following group members:

Michelle Blanckenberg, Annalie Calitz, Kobé Deister, Geraldine Kortje, Sonnette le Roux, Magdalene Maart, Trix Nel, Wilma Snetler.

All of the attendants lost a beloved through death, and could enter into the process of closure by the endopathic approach.

This day was truly wondrous. Outside, the soft rain of a winter's day, inside the warmth of love: tears, smiles, hugs, music, poetry, soup, bread, sherry and coffee, tipsy tart and sweets! Thank you, all who attended. I thoroughly enjoyed your presence.

An article on this workshop will be written by Michelle, a journalist for the local paper, George Herald, and will be published on this page as soon as it is available.

Other poems were written during the workshop to the PEARLCON form by Frans Bezuidenhout:

PEARLCON by Prof. Frans Bezuidenhout, NMMU

• A free style three stanza form
• Stanza one: serves as an orientation [2 – 3 lines]
• Stanza two: poses a question related to the orientation [1 – 2 lines]
• Stanza three: provides an answer in question form with emphasis on a positive outcome [principle or thought; spiritual or non-spiritual] [3 – 4 lines]
• Important:
o the poem must relate nature to the human condition or vice versa
o each stanza must link nature with human nature / condition
o Stanza two and three must portray the human condition within imagery of nature and the final stanza must depict a positive outcome [principle of healing]

Here follows a few examples:

Sundown on Smiles

… and within the dusk of nightfall,
twilight seems to weave a collage of despair.

Why then that when the sun fades
smiles enter into sundown?
Is there not the knowing
that within the composition of dawn
Hope has always been there?

Angels

Falling snow brings silence
that echoes the cold of loneliness.

Why does composure melt
when thoughts become isolated?

Is there not the knowing
that forsakenness brings angels
to give comfort to the soul?

Wind

Often the presence of the wind is felt,
but its origin and destination is unknown.

What then do currents of the air teach us
when we experience its storm upon our face?

Do you not want to share my thought
that it is not our standing
that determines the direction in our lives,
but rather the direction that we deploy?

Frans Bezuidenhout

Sun-struck

Sorrow has a way to stay ...
no matter how bright the sunshine,
or how many dollars you mine to give away.

Is sun not the stubborn reminder
that within shadows you are mortal?

Are you not fortunate that for a short while
you may look into Sun's eye of ecstasy, alive;
blinded by the purity of being immortal,
long after the earthen sun is gone?

Interesting ideas - especially in the creation of the poems. I'll have to come back & read more closely - there's a lot here. Thanks for sharing!

Stunning! Sad, uplifting, and beautiful. Captures loss and mourning with prescient skill. Love the inter-mixing of languages. I am in awe of your creativity on this one, and the emotion that you expressed intrigues, making me wish that I could sit in attendance at such an inspiring workshop as you described. On a side note, I had you in mind as I heard of the unrest in South Africa over the last week or so. Hope all is well and that peace and God will keep you safe

Many are here to celebrate The Light. We are alive to do so, while many of us lack the wit to enable an escape from situations that occured in the past from which there seemed to be no way out. Yet we are not dead. We may be hurt or suffering from all kinds of discomforts (physically or mentally), but those situations did not end our stay inside this realm. Perhaps it is one way in which The Light is letting us know that regardless how bad things may be, we will be helped out. Because The Light does not suffer from a lack of wit, compassion or Love. Thank you for sharing these, precious soul. May The Light continue to shine abundantly inside you (knowing it is your mission in life to spread the blessings bestowed on you!). Ack,

    Chris

Thank you so much, Chris ...

for illuminating this: no suffering in this realm can ever block out the Light. I am glad you referred to discomforts -- physically or mentally -- for those are part of mortality. We are however forever linked in Immortality.

      I have no doubt ...

that we are linked in the same way your picture of sun links to moon ... like day links to night ... like sorrow links to joy ...

Thank you for reading and commenting, Precious one. What belongs together, will be together.

Tentative and rhythmic, good wording here, the language is strong and pushing across the boundaries of normalcy, distance and heartache I sense, the flowered fields of sorrow’s fragrant thoughts, colourful and flapping in winds of sighs. We are what we carry, a body of liquid mostly, tears will escape as we travel scenes, a positive ending with a spiritual smile’s fluttered music.

I lapped up each of the poems, and in mind's eye, I could feel that I was there with you all. None of the writes are better than the other, but I do love the South African flavor - which some have accentuated in their poems. Die Pearlcon-gedigte is besonder pragtig. Ek het hier in die verte "Wou jy lewe" vrekbaie geniet. Baie liefde en sterkte. Frans
