droplets of rain

A thousand fair suitors all stab at your heart
Those poets of movement and jockeys of art
The high-volume vendors who hustle romance
Splashing their canvas with color and dance

The blasters of trumpets, gold banners unfurled
They offer lush gardens in glistening worlds
Yes, bearers of torches and carvers of stone
Who whisper their sonnets and surrender their thrones

And there in your doorway, no shadow is cast
No lingering voices, no ghosts from the past
Just a cluster of walls, and a window of pain
Collecting the heartache like droplets of rain

Still I stand before you, with palms to the sky
No gold in my pocket, no thorn in my side
And all I can offer, where words have no place
Is a body that trembles, and this love that awaits

You need to fix something. Read the guidelines.

"And there in your doorway, no shadow is cast
No lingering voices, no ghosts from the past"
"And all I can offer, where words have no place
Is a body that trembles, and this love that awaits"
You may as well have entered a contest asking for the opposite meaning of my poem. Not sure what happened! And because my contest is anonymous I can't be sure you read the poem in the first place.

the flow is so gorgeous! Flawless rhyming (which is quite rare, from what I've seen) and meaningful words create very vivid images, and I love what I'm seeing! Very nicely done, thanks for entering!

you know whats cool, listening to a jazz song about rain and reading this poem while its raining outside of my house, b/c the three of those go great together.. you have no idea how badly i want to write now.. you just gave me the inspiration at just the right time.. its like, a whole new light opened up in my head.. there were so many things you said, about love and inability, lonlieness, and life.. beautiful.. thank you for entering.

You are so destined for greatness, kid! One of the most heartfelt works I ever read. Very emotional, passionate words spoken here. Superb!

    Can you say BOOKMARK?
    Amazing!
How dare you say that you aren't good at writing, that's just a bold faced lie!
This is just so amazing, the depth and just wow!
Amazing! I love the rhyming and how you situated the stanzas and wow, you're just amazing.
Somehow those comparisons remind me of a storybook, somehow.
    It's just so exquisite!
Although I think you may try to start putting in author's notes what the poems are about and what inspired you and things, people do get curious!
    Excellent work.
    Just Excellent.
