There are places that spawn our fondest memories
where perhaps once we walked with a lover
when we were young and love was as new
as spring birds in a new nest.
I go to a place by a river and relive moments
skipping rocks and listening to laughter.
When I close my eyes I can hear her voice
I can feel her kiss upon my lips.
My lips blossom to a smile and I feel
like a bullet proof lad once again.
I come here often and see the reflection
of my face in the slow moving pools
where the same oak tree leans over the stream.
I look up to the sky and thank God
for the small gifts that last forever.
