Everyone Lives for Some Kind of Dream

Through all of this life I am nothing but a man
Though I’ll claim to you I’ve had many primes.
Because my life has been a flickering flame
filled with laughter and many tears I still cry.
Like many I am always looking for a break.
some kind of shortcut to the dreams I dream.

Because everyone lives for some kind of dream.
Since the beginning that’s been the way of man.
Sadly many will not see their lucky break
and many will be cut down before their prime.
No one will every hear the tears that they cry.
No one will witness the glory of their flames.

I myself have felt the burn of countless flames.
I’ve watched the flickering out of many dreams.
They part at the essence of a single cry.
Such a simple sad truth for the way of man.
We must make the most of our ephemeral prime.
Take full advantage of our few lucky breaks.

For all we will get are a few little breaks
like a single match to spread our hopeful flames
to make the conflagration of our sought prime.
To find the pot of gold in our rainbow dreams.
That has always been the desire of man.
The golden chalice has been his battle cry.

But richness is not always the battle cry.
What about kindness for those who need a break?
Thos who want to be as benevolent men.
They will always find warmth in flickering flames
They will find the desire of their many  dreams.
They will always be in a form of their prime.

What about he man who never finds his prime
who is lost within echoes of his own cries?
Who cannot fathom the thought of golden dreams.
Down on his luck unable to get a break.
Can someone let him borrow a single flame
or is each to his own the sad way of man?

Man is destined to be a creature of dreams.
He will cry out in the glory of his prime.
Life will break him down but not kindle his flames.
