A tune drifted in from the misted moor
in through my window so soft and sweet.
It caught my ear with a voice so sure
as it whispered a waltz beneath my feet.
My toes were light while my hair was a mess
I rubbed my eyes in the dusky dark.
I found my shoes, then I threw on a dress
as the music touched heart and left a mark.
The air was cold, but my eyes were warm.
I danced my soul 'neath the shimmering moon.
I left my heart in the hands of the song,
my spirits were bright as an afternoon.
I twirled and sprung past the burbling spring,
caught sight of a flicker of frisking light.
I follwed its romp with a sparkling eye
as I wandered so deeply into the night.
I saw them frolicking in the wood.
Their wings kept time with the cheerful tune.
None heeded me while, in awe, I stood
watching them drink 'neath pink festoons.
One caught my eye with a cheerful grin
and beckoned me near with a waving hand.
Eyes of honey and ivory skin
she sang in a voice both soft and grand.
I danced and drank the night away,
the fluttering fairies ever near.
I journeyed home with the morning sun
to find that I'd danced for a solid year.

Simply beautiful my dear!
Fairies are so enchantingly beautiful.
Lovely imagery and storyline in this
poem. I love your rhyme scheme in this.
Thanks a lot for sharing your talent here!

You are truly a master of rhyme. I am always so impressed with your work. If you collected all your light hearted pieces together, it would be a collection I would definitely read to my nieces and nephew. I think I might start reading them to them off your page.

Love ya
Carrie
