A box of steel,
a single railroad car,
standing without motion
beneath the South Dakota sun;
painted like an easel
full of bright lined color.
Shrubs and shadows
lick the grass around it.
A white and blue patchwork
quilts the sky above.
Farms lie in the distance,
scattered around,
proud of their heritage.
Each needs the other.

Congratulations...
Congratulations on your "honorable mention"; your piece is far more than an adept description of the accompanying picture - it's a lovely "word picture"; nicely composed. --Joe

truly amazing...I love the midwestern pride that shine through your piece.
you describe the picture and setting so well and the express the sentiments of what it makes up the country...specifically SD.
I love: "beneath the South Dakota sun; painted like an easel."
I love the artistic feel you gave too it..and love that you relate it to color...I'm quite partial to colors, and poems about colors (particularly crayolas
) I too thought the colors of the picture were powerful, so I'm glad you picked up on that as well.
very well done.
thanks for entering and g'luck! -
Nice imagery that encapsulates the pictoral elements of the prompt... Well done.
