I lay awake in this lonely bed,
I toss and turn because all I see is you,
All I smell is you upon my pillows.
And when I close my eyes,
Still frames of you and I,
Playing like a slide show that I cant stop.
Make it stop, make it disappear.
I cant get you out of my head,
Although I know I should.
And these sleepless nights,
Tear me up inside.
I just need to hear your voice,
So maybe I can get some sleep.
I've cried a million tears,
Over this broken matter.
But I cant seem to say goodbye to you,
Your hold is much to strong.
Like ivy tightened to a fence.
I was always good with words,
But you were always better.
I want to hear those beautiful words,
That came out of your timid mouth.
I want to feel your touch,
Feel fire in my heart.
I want to kiss your amazing lips,
And feel what bliss is really like.
I want you to love me,
The way I will always love you.
Although I have learned,
Sometimes love just isn't enough.

This is a wonderful write. You are very right, sometimes love isn't enough. Thank you for entering the contest, good luck.

i can really relate to this situation and it sucks! the open and honest sentiment are almost screaming to me as well as the feelings the poetic voice has for the absent lover- i can so relate to that - perhaps one or two of the images are a litte familiar but i do like the simile about the ivy,it's very effective in painting a picture of being bound and confined. not overly sure of the line - baby - probably because it's not a noun i'd use myself - but everyone's idiolect is different. a heartfelft and powerful write, thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest. cheers.
