Grandpa les, I can’t explain
Why I didn’t try to get to know you before
Now I know, and I regret
That I don’t have the chance to anymore
We were never close, but I don’t doubt
That you were a really great man
And that the pain of losing you
Is more then many here can stand
Looking out, right here today
I see many a tear-stained face
All your friends and family
Hoping you’ve gone to a better place
Many people who’ve shared your life
And who will never forget your love
Who know your still there in our hearts
And watching us from above
So now you’ve gone to heaven
Summoned by the angels call
I for one pray you never forget
That you were loved by all

Hoodwinked
My grandfather died many years ago. I wasn't really close to him either. He was a hard person to get to know. -
HOODWINKED!
This is a beautiful poem of tribute and rememberance, honest and heartfelt, loving and tender. I'm sorry to hear of your loved ones passing and pray for you and your family for the peace and comfort you seek in this difficult time. As your Grandfather read this on the other side, he'll probably stand a little taller and prouder of his granddaughter and the loved ones he's left behind. Well done!

I've lost a lot of people who was close to me... and reading this brings tears to my eyes. Wow.... AMAZING JOB!!!! OMG! This is fantastic. The form and the rhyme... I can see your grandpa meant a lot to you and your family and I hope you have shared this with them. Keep writing, let the emotions flow

This is a lovely poem penned for your grandpa
...the specialness of it, is not only in the words, but in the interpretation...it gains in momentum and beautiful strength, with such tender thoughts and feelings...your grandpa knows he was loved and will be smiling down for you
I'm so sorry for your loss, please accept my condolences, I will say a prayer for your grandpa and one for you too
Much love ~Lilac~
