I found you
sitting on stone steps
songs still hovering
on the edges of your lips
your hair hangs like a shield
in front of your eyes
is it the sun you're hiding from?
or do you simply not wish
to see my face, creased with a smile
at finding you?
it could be too much at times
I suppose
but surely you must know
that the only thing keeping me
from interlocking our fingers
from intertwining our souls
is the cold of your skin
against the warm of my own
but the wind can tell you
how much I love you
as I've spoken all my secrets
into her embrace
and the sea can reassure you
that I truly do adore you
as I've awoken to many sunsets
while drifting in its waters
and imagining your face
our thoughts are ripped
are pure, naked, and real
just like our bodies
forgotten in this masterpiece
that we call our combined minds
and when you fall asleep
do it with ease
because I'll be there to catch you
you'll feel me in your dreams
