Prologue-(May 2009)
The day was May 2nd, 2009, the day was gone and the night had now come. Clouds covered any sight of the stars, and the only light was coming from passing cars. Then a girl about seventeen years old with long brunette hair, came sneaking out of a white house with dark navy trim. She slowly clossed the door, and picked up two black duffel bags and slung them around each of her shoulders. As she crept down the stairs, she looked back at the dark house. She moved her hair out of her vision and slowly walked down the creaking stairs. Once her feet touched the muddy surface she felt the intensity of the rain fall down upon her. She began to run. She ran in the darkness; running as fast as she could. Never in her life did she plan on being in the situation she was faced with at the moment. No longer was she accepted or wanted in the life she lived for the past seventeen years. The only things of her old life were being carried on her shoulders. She tried to run again, but the weight was too much for her body. Her mind and body was exhausted. The emotions kept her feet tied to the Earth's surface. The gravel road in which she traveled was now in perfect sight. Walking the extra twenty feet was gruesome. The weight and rain alone she would have survived but the decision that was on her mind made it nearly impossible. As she slowly walked the remaining distance, she hid herself from the sky above under the tree at the end of her once was driveway. The road was quiet. The world around her seemed as if at any moment could all fall apart, and she didn't doubt that it would. After laying the bags on the damp grass, she leaned her body against the tree's sturdy and strong trunk. The bumps of the bark made it nearly impossible to be comfortable and she knew the reality. Closing her eyes, and finally letting her emotions out, for the very first time, she cried. She bent down on her knees and cradled her face in her hands. Her body was shaking. Then seeing lights in the distance, she stood back up. Feeling her hand soften out her clothing, her hand stopped on her stomach. Her fingers traced her stomach and she let out a sigh. As the lights approached her quicker, the rain poured down even faster. In the silence, a crack of thunder disrupted the peace. Lightening was coming. She had to leave. In that moment of thunder everything was clear-she had to leave; it was now or never. As the Ford Explorer pulled up along her, she threw her bags in the back seats and popped open the passenger door. As she entered the car, and shut the door, she looked back one last time, and after that moment, she could never look back...
