“Oh Captain, my captain!”
tells us that we are members of the human race,
so filled with passion written in words,
because only in our words we are free,
a thing that no devil can take.
You believe that you are destined
for great things, but you see these men
and listen closely,
you can hear them whisper
their legacy to you.
Go on,
lean in.
Listen,
you hear it?
Carpe…
Carpe, carpe diem,
seize the day boys,
make your lives extraordinary
so that no matter what you are told,
you can carpe diem
And change the world.

A very good poem about the idea behind the "Dead Poets Society". I love how you included the bit about the old portraits and "Carpe diem".
Changing the world... It doesn't even take much to do that... only belief in yourself...
This was a great write to spend time on, thinking about all possible kinds of actions that might be inspired by this poem.
Thank you so much for entering my contest!
Keep on writing!
