We have a rule in our house
It's no day time TV
Although I don't mind kids watching
an occasional Video or DVD
But the other day we turned it on
And the channels began to flip
The my daughter and I stood mesmerized
By and actors' amazing LIPS!!
I've never seen such whoppers
They were bulbous, they were HUGE
And I honestly can't believe
To look like that is what she'd choose
I mean how on earth did the woman eat
Not to mention have a drink
Liquids would be spilling everywhere
Or that is what you'd think
That this woman could actually talk
Was nothing short of a miracle
The show was meant to be a drama
But her lips made it satirical
We both stood for a full minute
Our eyes were open wide
Then we turned and looked each other
and laughed until we cried
What is going on in this world
For actors to have to look like fish
Is that really what directors want
Is that really what they wish
So the TV got turned off
and ignored for yet another day
In the mirror I looked at my little lips
I think I prefer them to look that way
In a list

lol, this is an awesome poem. I think you and my mother would be kindred souls. Personally, I and all my sisters like our bodies just the way they are...and I don't understand women who do rediculous things to theirs.

delightful!
hehehe! I always thought that some of those puffed up lips resemble those seen in National Geographic. I sell cosmetics and there are quite a few lipsticks now that have plumping ingredients in them. It's sort of a reverse psychology, I think, indicating that if older women don't use them, they are going to be wrinkled old prunes! Too late for some of us
It gives a whole other perspective to being thin-lipped.

LOL, I look at some of these women on American TV whose faces are so stretched by cosmic surgery you wait for them to turn inside out! I always think of the film 'Excaliber' for some reason, when the witch turns herself into a younger woman to seduce her son, then starts to age and become a skeleton before his eyes!! Gruesome!!!!
Excellent write, very amusing.

What a sight THAT must have been
Very strange what some people think looks attractive isn't it. Lots of botox by the sounds of it
Well done. I enjoyed your poem
