Simple Pleasures

Simple pleasures, the best in life
So much materialism
Wanting in this world, so rife

A child's adoration, loving stare
Rose coloured glasses
There is nothing better is there

The sound of nature from outside
Kookaburra's laugh
The whole world so big and wide

A simple meal with pleasant friends
A BBQ, a salad
Makes you wish your life won't end

Getting lost for hours in a book
amazing adventures
Without even leaving a cozy nook

A campfire with warm marshmallows
a cozy jumper
and resting later on a soft white pillow

Eatings mandarins straight off my tree
wonderful flavour
You can't get any fresher than that you see

What you need is not that far
just look around
Its as as close as looking at the stars

Author notes

I different rhyme scheme for me. I was trying to think of the things I most enjoy. I think I will try and add a short verse every few day. Please feel free to add something if you wish

These are a few of my favorite things!

Julie Andrews' strong and youthful voice
A song that all can sing
Quiet beauty 'midst the raucous noise

    I have never heard a kookaburra's call,
But I am pleased to hear of it.
Thanks for sharing Simple Pleasures with us all!

Idyllic imagery, Bec. I can't remember the last time I roasted marshmallows, or could get lost in a book without interruption. I think the computer took over... But I adore the night sky in summertime when the stars seem close enough to touch and the breezes stay warm into evening.

One thing, my grandkids always loved was making cookies, so we did that a lot. They seem to have outgrown it now, though. They still like to eat them, however.
