Who?

A Beautiful soul,
strong,
passionate, fearless,
bold.

Tiptoed, cherished,
slowly bled,
razor sharp
stalking death.

Ply-ing dark,
skeletal truths,
of consequences,
clot.

Addiction's lips,
stript confess,
step one……
I can not do this by myself,
I am powerless.

Garments remove,
pockets,
Of self-propagating excuse,
Step two…..is there something,
anything that can restore me to sanity.

Creation and heaven echo,
Live Freed!
Joyful dance, ease,
Step three…a will-full decision,
define a higher purpose then..me.

Forgiveness sung,
Release!
Presence,
Joy, faith and trust.

Soulful wings,
Sail,
Creation's breeze,
mothers, fathers,
gently weep,
Tears of joyful
relief.

Who?

I love you my daughter, Angela Faith.

    Hello Ears2hearyou.

This is a powerful piece which I have to say, I have read a few of your's, and they all have a strong message to give. The steps taken to free oneself of chains has been incorporated well. Strong powerful piece.

    My regards.

I like this. A while ago I'd written a poem with the same message. I like your reference[s] to the 12 Steps program - step one, I am powerless, step two... Very nice indeed. Just one suggestion: use "sanity" instead of saneness. It just flows better. Otherwise I love this so much. Good, good!

    Good

The poem uses unusual and somewhat taboo imagery to make a statement and is clever in its use. The author uses good imagery and maintains a poetic flow through the whole piece. A very moving and heart felt poem. A thought provoking, gentle poem. Nicely structured, well written with poetic flare. The poem has a message and delivers it well. It has good word choice with a rhythm that moved me emotionally.

    'Soulful wings,

    Creation's breeze,
    Society's mother and father's weep,
    Tears of joyful relief'

Very unique style and poem. The pictures just added a nice touch and flowed so well with the meaning of the whole poem. Nice job ~Sie

Wow...you have done an incredible job with this piece. Aside from the graphics (which were amazing and a good idea), the content you worked into this one was powerful. I like this style of yours; What affects are already with us and how many various other factors imprint their weight on these listless frames? Great job. My favorite lines? "Tiptoed and cherished,
    bled,
    razor sharp lessons,
    bare foot.

    Ply-ing the dark,
    skeletal,
    truths of consequences,
clot"... very creative (Thanks for the facts in your ANs too...very useful; sad truths, huh?).

    Excellent

Wow I loved how you put the first few steps in your poem with different wording yet the same meaning. The statistics are facts unfortunately.
You, you knew I needed to read this didn't you. Step 1, 2, 3, 4 and on!!!!!!!!!! I just celebrated my recovery a week ago on May 20th. Actually my official recovery date is April 1, 1986. I was only 24 and got sober and my son was only 24 and died from this disease. Yes we both are dual diagnosed. I take medication and he wasn't. Maybe that is the difference, I don't know. I don't know why some live and some die. There is no rhyme or reason for the outcomes so it seems, to me anyway. But for the grace of God there go I.

Yes this is mental illness a disease of my mind!! Best of luck in the contest. You did a wonderful job on this reality check of a poem. So real and true as well as informative. Thank you for sharing with me.
    Much Love Always
