Teacher Appreciation Week

I appreciate the teachers
when it is vacation time,
and teachers stay in stuffy rooms
to study as the deadlines loom
"Effective" when the year resumes
and "Highly Qualified."

I appreciate the teachers
when the flu is going 'round.
With rooms of kids that cough and sneeze
or do their best to catch disease
till teachers beg on bended knees
"Don't spread those germs around!"

I appreciate the teachers
when it is reporting time
it tests their capabilities
with IEPs and OGTs,
and sundry worse calamities
that should be ruled crime.

So, kids, appreciate the teachers
for Appreciation Week.
An apple on the desk is nice
but, if you will take my advice,
don't make them tell you "Quiet!" twice
or give them any cheek.

    tee hee, I am known to make a teacher go insane. I still hold the record of sending five teachers to the mental institution back home

    But maybe I should be nice for once...My new teacher is nice in a way...

    Haha, cute write and congrats on the gold trophy on it. It's a fun read, that's for sure. I've tutored a lot and it's amazing the different perspective when you are on the other end. Nice write.

    you really do have a thing for humor don't you? this made me grin like crazy (of course, I dropped by after your extremely subtle hint on your author page)

    and I am so glad I did!

    this is a great piece- I love the easy rhyme in this piece. it does not sound forced at all; in fact this lamost reads like a nursery rhyme. and the fact that you use humore but it is clean and wonderfully used here just makes this an awesome awesome read. loved every single line. there were a few lines I thought went a little off the flow, for an example the last line, but this just made me grin as I read on and all the tiny glitches never struck me until I read the second time.

    this is GREAT. hearty congrats on the gold

    Once awhile ago (oh btw my hubby is a teacher in a youth prison.) while visiting a friends grandson's class the teacher asked, "are those fucking kids lined up outside"
    ... friggin good example. Congrats on the gold and yes, please childen appreciate your teacher! LOL

    Hello Still Anonymous,

    I know that teachers indeed have a hard job. I was thinking about it after getting my CDA training but I changed my mind and doing other things now.
    There job is so hard and a lot of times they get over looked instead of the thank you they deserve.
