I feel America's horror-
The varied pains I feel...
Those of mothers weeping for
Their dying sons and daughters...
The witnesses looking onward
As the two planes hit-
Their minds unbelieving
Their eyes wide open
And their hearts breaking...
The husbands falling to their knees
As the towers fall
Unaware of the extent of
What is yet to come...
The wives crying out for their husbands
Searching through the faces of survivors
Arising from the crumbling hell...
The rescuers' determined faces
As they fullfill their duties
Knowing that Death has arrived.
The United States of America weeping
Then joining together
'Cause we will kick ass
And no one will destroy us.
SO MANY PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED BY THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. SOME LIVED, SOME DIED, AND SOME DID BOTH. SOME WERE NEVER FOUND. THERE MAY NEVER BE PEACE FOR ANYONE, BUT HOPEFULLY WE CAN BEGIN TO DO SOMETHING THAT MOST BELIEVE TO BE IMPOSSIBLE:
FORGIVE.

wow this is so very powerful. This poem truley expresses the horror in a strong way. I lost some one dear to me on 9-11 and it is hard for everyone! Have you ever noticed than 9-11 are the numbers 911. The numbers we call when we are in trouble. Those numbers we dial for help, are the same numbers we remember the twin towers. IDK I just thought that was weird you know? I agree ith Florida Sunshine. i would never wish that same horror on any other people. At the same time is they can fight for something and fight til death, than wehave to make a stand. We hae no choice but to defend our nation. We don't exactly understand why they attacked us, but they say it is for religious reasons and they believed God told them to. See we are fighting an Islam nation. Mohammad, there last true prophet, invented the idea of jihad (holy war), which was the use of force in order to spread Islam. THey fight til death. In their eyes this is a jihad (holy ar). Although we may not see it that way they do. Does it make it right, not neccessarily. We got hurt in the process. BUt is their entire nation responsible for what hapened to us? no they aren't. Yet as we stay over seas and lose more of our american troops, they lose ciilians and troops. We are continuing this ar when we should just go home. Cause they won't stop. They fight til death. Some one has to just be the bigger nation and stop. They are known for their violence, but we don't have to be known for ours. Two wrongs don' make a right, you k now. WE are fighting fire with fire and both nations are getting burned. We will never forget that awul day because it was so tramatizig, yet by being in war we keep the memory even more alive. Isn't it time for the healing to start and the fighting to stop? IDk just a thought.

It was very hard writing this poem. Icried and cried and cried. I didn't lose anyone, but as a nation.. well, we lost a lot.

Independence - Nice job. So easily people forget. Forgiving those who did such a horrible thing especially if you are a person who lost a loved one. I remember that day. I remember thinking to myself I'd understand better had they attacked a military base. [like Pearl Harbor]
However, thinking of the faces I saw crying in the pain from the loss of a love one... rips my heart to shreds. I'm sure there are still those who struggle through life on a daily basis even 7 years later.
Of course I wouldn't wish that kind of destruction even on my enemies. That too, was the first think I thought of was what the faces of those who lost a loved one be like ours. Will thier hearts grieve like many of our American brothers and sisters do? Sadly, I'm sure the answer is yes.
Violence isn't the answer. I wish the world will learn that some day. Just because I can do it doesn't mean my way is the right way. It just means I'm stronger.
Your write brings all of that to mind. Thought provoking from start to finish. It's nice to see it is remembered. "Shall we never forget!"
Thanks for entering my 1st year of hosting contest! Yours was a treasured read. Good luck to you. -

This originally started as an English assignment, but it soon turned to this. I didn't lose anyone on 9-11, but as a nation, America lost so much. Thank you for commenting on my poem and thatnk you for the Honorable Mention.
