Hunks of ham
hacked off and fried
on an old potbellied stove.
Hash browns and toast
made on the top of that stove
with a hanger flattened out.
Lots of dope and strong coffee
Lots of beer the night before
Gravel running and Patsey Cline
Turned up high on the radio.
It all came back to me.
So long since I did that
All night and later breakfast.
Lots of cream in the coffee.

definitley different
Well now, I do like the country references in this, and I must admit they did make me smile somewhat, even though I have to say I'm not a fan of that particular genre of music. I like the way you encapsulate the whole 'package' for want of a better term through your use of imagery. Great mix of the here and now too, it works so well I can almost hear the sound of such music in the background... cheers! -
You forgot the fryin' pan and the pickup parked outside. When I was a kid in Idaho we ate like that. No dope though just coffee and Patsy Cline.
Thanks for your entry.

Now that's what I'd call a breakfast, 3j's! I love the mixture of nostalgia and realism in this. Good one.
