I was born here,
beneath the woodland skies,
scraping by on fodd stamps and hand me downs,
livin in a two room trailer,
but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I ran here,
beneath the South Carolina skies,
eatin sourweed and singin songs,
livin in the middle of nowhere,
but I wouldn't change a thing.
I learned to run here,
I learned to see the world,
for what it really is,
never had enough to live on,
but that's me.
Did you ever see your mom beaten?
Did you ever raise your brother alone?
Were you responsible for the lives,
of you and your brother?
Did you really have a childhood like me?
I learned how to strong.
No one can hold me down.
I'm my own person,
and I won't change a thing.
I'm headstrong,
brave,
smart,
and ready to go out.
You can't hold me back,
so get outta my way.
Byran Adams once said,
exactly what I mean.
"You can't take me,
I'm free."
That's me.
