Harmonica man

Harmonica man
played through the pane,
hunkered down, stirring
memories:

a lone note traversing
the Alberta night,

yellow fields nod sleepily
without the wind
to blow the notes away

and then

a brief duet
with a water rippled loon
before they bow
to the morning sun.

The first two lines really open this one quite nicely John ..

I can't get to the photo but I'll keep trying.

Ah Sokeeg, I think I can find something to comment on easy enough.

Quite the opposite of that unlearned comment, there's a subtlety here, the quiet night, a solemn (maybe) tune, the loon was a good touch, shows that quite, that tranquility. Anyone who has ever heard a loon can understand that.

I'm reminded of western tales, the lone cowboy out on the trail...a fire, a harmonica and darkness surrounding.

Now I have my own memories that this poem invokes...I guess we all have those.

The picture is beautiful and your poem as usual, well written.
    'a brief duet
    with a water rippled loon'

loved that the image those words brought to my mind.

    Very amateur

Now was that prose or was it poetry? Theres nothing to comment on. I'm trying to find some hint somewhere in that write that can qualify it to the poetry status.

One of the wonderful things about allpoetry is that nowhere does it say all(only good)poetry or all(only well read)poetry. It allows the writers and the readers a chance to experience all levels of skill.

      www.alldictionary says:
The difference between poetry and verse is usually the difference between substance and form.

Poetry is lofty thought or impassioned feeling expressed in imaginative words: Elizabethan poetry.

Verse is any expression in words which simply conforms to accepted metrical rules and structure: the differences between prose and verse.

      thanks for reading.

Whether it is in Alberta or anywere in the world. Unbound by time or place this mood carried in this poem is universal. But not less the value, recognizing and refrasing with not to many words as neccessary to create that feeling. Well done and a fine painting.
