Bus Station

She saw him at the bus station
He hadn’t told her he was leaving
She said I can’t believe it’s true
I’m about to lose the one thing I believe in

He told her when he came
He was just a stranger passing through
She thought somehow she’d change him
Never such an easy thing to do

Some people put down roots
While others just pass through
On their way to nowhere at all
It seems some people stay
While others are on their way
Just heading for their next port of call

His rucksack was packed
And his mind was set on going
She tried to ask him where
He said there’s just no way of knowing

Forever on the move
With nothing to prove to anyone
And he felt no pride or shame
For anything he’d ever done

Some people put down roots
While others just pass through
On their way to nowhere at all
It seems some people stay
While others are on their way
Just heading for their next port of call
