stones and stones, they'll crack your bones

I could love him for years on this mountain.
I could love you for years on this mountain
until its shoulder heaved a sigh of defeat and it rested calloused
elbows in the grass
And crocodile tears, more like rain clouds
formed oceans in his eyes
and He closed the lids in a resounding No.
Someone tells him he has the most beauitful rock formations they have ever seen
but the skys have poured down on his neck for ages
His chin is warm in the pools of his hands and it's nice to be able to look up instead of down.
When you've been looking down all your life, it's hard to remember
how blue a morning can been. Or the darkness of tomorrow's promise.
I could love you forever on this mountain.
I supposed the trouble has always been
that even mountains fall.
Rivers crack and bleed dead things lost along the way.
Trees sleep tonight, never to wake up again.
I could love you forever on this mountain,
But, forever is an awfully long time.

Please tell me what you think
